[Gemsun owners are not required to follow the world lore at all, and can put their Gemsuns in whatever setting they wish! While I ask that no owner change major physical traits or rarities of their Gemsun, owners are more than welcome to take artistic liberties concerning story/setting, anatomy[particularly regarding gender/sex presentation & muscle/fat distribution], and sociological/behavioral traits to help them better suit their own stories and worlds!

The following story is of the Gemsuns' origin and in no way necessary to influence current stories or characters. This lore was written to fill small plotholes and for the sake of the owners.]

In this universe there exists beings of immense undeniable power. These beings are exalted among the worlds and receive all of their gifts and powers from the Universe itself. The Universe blesses them with magic, life, death, creation, destruction, and the abilities to pass all of these things on to their charges.

In some places they are call Djinn.
In others they are called Titans.
They have no true name.
If you were to look upon one of these entities your mind would not be able to comprehend their presence for they are made of energy and magic from the purest of sources.

The crystal goddess did not choose a name for herself when she was born. In the vast reaches of space, names are not important. Her hair was made of stardust and her body of a strong gem-like design. Inside this hard casing of mineral there resided a life force that shone so bright it made her crystalline skin glow. The goddess was attracted to the flickering glow of the stars, for they made her feel not so alone. She would travel the wide expanse of the Universe in search of the brightest stars she could find.
The Gem called to her. It was a mineral so large it put many planets to shame. When the Gem caught the light of the goddess it glittered with all the colors of the Universe. The goddess fell in love with its beauty. She vowed to protect and preserve it.

The goddess watched over the Gem for centuries and tried to think of ways she could use it. However, before she could come to a decision of what to do next, something terrible happened.
An asteroid storm of prophetic proportions swept through the galaxy. Asteroids the size of dwarf planets barreled into the Gem damaging it. Large chunks of crystal broke from the main body as it was struck violently, putting the goddess into a panic. The Gem was her treasure. She covered the Gem with her crystal-like body to protect it as the asteroid continued their onslaught. The space rocks were relentless; it didn't take long before the goddess's body was fractured and cracking.

The crystal goddess was not a deity of healing and did not know how to fix her broken body or her broken treasure. Battered and covered in cracks that continued to spider across her damaed frame, the goddess made a final decision. As her inner glow began to seep through the fissures of her body and the cracks increased she used the last of her power to pass on her life force. A heartbeat later, the Gem creaked once more before it shattered, and as it did so did the goddess's body, infusing all the Gem shards that dusted through the expanse of space with her essence.

This is how Gemsuns were born.

The shards that the goddess had infused with her life force drifted throughout the galaxy. Some of them were very large and some of them were very small. Because of the goddess's quick and rash decision made in her last moments, the Gemsun species was born with many imperfections. The power of the shattering had them scattered across the galaxies, many dormant, resembling large gems as they slept, dreaming of being whole again.
The Gemsuns slept, still and unformed, until they drifted and found themselves resting on worlds that were habitable and full of life.

All Gemsuns were born with an innate sense of loss, their souls forever yearning for their missing parts. Parts of all sizes and forms. Some Gemsuns were born from jagged large shards and developed into 'the corrupt' or 'overgrown'. Others were created from more manageable Gem pieces, and comfortably developed a shape of their own. Still some were born from the gem dust and became 'gemdust' or 'dusters', too small to form a full body but still large enough to understand their purpose... or lack there of.

As time passed Gemsuns came into their own. They developed their own forms and found ways to communicate and interact with their species and others.
Even the broken and incomplete Gems found forms to call their own.
They learned, they grew, they evolved.
They found ways to reproduce and increase their numbers.
They found species they could love and species they could hate.

And yet they still searched... searched for their own people, for the remnants of their shattered goddess. Unknowing to their origin they were drawn here and there, ever wandering.
